Sugar prices likely flat at year-end

The sugar prices are likely to stay unchanged in the rest of this year as 50,000 tons of sugar will be produced in October, adding to 230,000 tons of imported and stocked sugar, the online newspaper Danviet reported on October 7, citing the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The retail prices of white transparent sugar and white refined sugar have increased to the highest level since the beginning of this year. The white transparent sugar is currently sold at between VND17,100-VND17,400, up 30% on year and 8.1% from January after rising for three times.

The world prices of sugar have stood at the year-peak so far, indicated by below chart.
