Su Pan 2 hydropower plant’s operation delayed

Nguyen Thanh Kim, general director of Song Da-Hoang Lien Hydropower Joint Stock Co revealed that the company had to delay operation of Su Pan 2 hydropower plant sited in Ba Ho, Sa Pa Dist, Lao Cai province due to land slide on December 25, 2010.
As scheduled, the hydropower plant should have been put into operation in April 2011.

The land slide caused damage of over 70 billion dong for Song Da-Hoang Lien Hydropower JSC. The company has already asked for compensation from Sa Pa Hydropower Joint Stock Co, however, it has been four months since the land slide Sa Pa hydropower JSC hasn’t given any commitment for Su Pan 2 hydropower plant, although the company has already re-purchased the equipment to replace the damaged ones.

The fact that Su Pan 2 hydropower plant was delayed operation lead to not only loss in power supplies for the national grid but also caused additional loss for the company to pay the additional interest for the new loans to be used for re-purchasing the equipment. – Vietbiz24
