Strengthening border economy with Cambodia

Vietnam’s import-export value with Cambodia is estimated to reach nearly US$700 million in the first eight months of this year, up 30 percent compared to the same period in 2010.

Vietnam’s exports to Cambodia in the period hit approximately US$300 million, up nearly 20 percent.

Major export products include footwear, luggage, plastic products, clothes, timber beds and candles. Major imports include fresh and dried cassava, cooking oil, soy-bean, rice, buffaloes, cows, raw cashew nuts and rubber wood.

To facilitate trade activities along border areas Tay Ninh province has issued many new policies, such as exempting taxes, invested in building roads, upgraded both main and sub border gates and generated jobs to increase income for local people along border lines. – VOV
