Steel import surplus hits US$2.65 billion

Vietnam imported more than 4 million tonnes of steel in the past seven months of 2011, up 9 percent compared to the same period last year.

In the reviewed period, the country exported approximately 940,000 tonnes of steel worth US$881 million.

Despite a year-on-year increase of 44.2 percent, Vietnam’s steel import surplus remained high, at almost US$2.65 billion. – VOV
