Spain Supports Vietnam in Prevention of Domestic Violence

On the occasion of the International Day to Eliminate Violence Against Women, Peace and Development (PyD), a Spanish NGO for Development, along with the Family Department of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST), UN agencies, and other international and local organizations will launch the second phase of the Joint Communication Campaign for Prevention of Domestic Violence in Vietnam on November 25 2009, funded mainly by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID). The joint communication campaign is part of a long term project started in 2008 integrating key actors.
Domestic Violence Prevention strategies have to involve both, women and men, as a complimentary process. This campaign will target men because men are the primary perpetrators of violence against women and attitudinal change among them is a necessary condition for prevention. The campaign is proposing positive roles that men can take in helping to prevent Domestic Violence, as a strategy to reach out to the majority of men in Vietnam.
