Southern hub expo to promote four ASEAN countries

The seventh Ho Chi Minh City International Travel Expo (ITE HCMC 2011) will take place from September 14-17 with the participation of the tourism industries of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and host Vietnam.

This year, Myanmar will take part in the event for the first time, which is themed “Four countries, one destination”.

ITE HCMC has become a tourism trademark and an important event that promotes Vietnam’s image to both domestic and foreign tourists as well as strengthen tourism cooperation between the four participating countries.

In the spotlight will be the ‘buyer’ program for 145 businesses and world leading travel agencies to meet and discuss the purposes of tourism trade and products.

This year’s event will include many other activities, such as a meeting to promote tourism investment in the four countries, and a seminar on plans for and approaches to key tourism markets.

“More than 200 businesses and tourism promotion companies of the four nations have registered to take part in the expo,” said La Quoc Khanh, Vice Director of the HCM City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. “The most senior leaders of Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar have also confirmed their attendance at the event and will take the opportunity to introduce the tourism policy and practices of their respective countries.”  -VOV
