South Korea invests $23b in Vietnam

Korea International Trade Association (Kita) officially opened its representative office in HCM City on September 7.
Mr Sagong II, chairman of Kita, said that the establishment of its representative office in HCM City will bridge for the further economic cooperation and exchanges between the two countries in particular and with Asean in general.

Since 2010 so far, Korea has become Vietnam’s biggest foreign investor. In the first six months of this year, the bilateral trade between the two countries reached $8.8 billion (rising 49% from the same period last year) and it is forecasted to reach $20 billion by 2015.

Currently, Korean investors have invested some $23 billion in 2,823 projects in Vietnam.
