Sound, vision expo opens in HCM City
The PALME Viet Nam 2010 exhibition opened in HCM City yesterday offering the latest in professional audio, visual, lighting, broadcast, systems integration and entertainment technologies.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Tran Chien Thang, said it was the first exhibition of its kind in Viet Nam.
Timely show
About 200 companies from 20 countries, including the US, UK, Spain, Italy, Germany, China, Taiwan, France and Singapore, are involved.
Thang said the exhibition was timely as Viet Nam was the world’s fastest-growing entertainment and media market. The industry was expected to reach more than US$2.3 billion by 2013, he added.
Viet Nam is the 13th most populated country in the world with 86 million people and 40 per cent of them under 35 years old, a segment that thrives on the latest technologies.
La Quoc Khanh, deputy director of HCM City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said the three-day event would offer industry players opportunities to seek business partners and new markets.
It would also help the local industry upgrade information to make international-standard products that meet market demands.
Rosalind Ng, managing director of Asia’s IIR Exhibitions Pte Ltd, said the 2010 edition was the 22nd presentation of PALME Asia.
PALME Asia, organised in 2000, was a circuit alternating yearly in the Asian region and has had stopovers in the Philippines, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Thailand.
As part of the event, there will be a series of product seminars and the first DJ competition with the presence of internationally renowned DJ JoshM.
The exhibition is being held at the Sai Gon Exhibition and Convention Center and closes on Saturday. — VNS
