Smartlink expands connection for more nine banks

The expansion of the connection has increased the total number of connected POS to 50,000 machines nationwide.

Nine commercial joint stock banks including: Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB), Saigon Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SCB), Viet A Commercial JS Bank (VAB), Nam Viet Commercial JS Bank (Navibank-NVB), Vietnam Prosperity Commercial JS Bank (VPBank-VPB), Saigon-Hanoi Commercial JS Bank (SHB), HCM City Housing Development Commercial Joint Stock Bank (HDBank), BaoViet Commercial JS Bank (BaoVietBank) and Global Petroleum Commercial JS Bank (GPBank) have joined the connection in July.

Accordingly, the domestic card owners of one of these nine member banks or member lenders under BanknetVN and VNBC can pay for goods and services in a network of over 50,000 POS (points of sale) of banks in three systems.

In addition, cardholders of banks in the system of Banknetvn and VNBC can also pay at the POS system of Smartlink’s member banks. The payment of POS in many fields: supermarkets, shopping centres, restaurants, hotels, retail stores, and taxi.

This is one of the activities in the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV)’s POS system development programme.

As of July 25, Vietnam has had 50,000 POS being linked to 29 commercial banks of three reputable card switching organisations namely Smartlink, BanknetVN and VNBC. – Vnexpress
