Shrimp exports expected to reach over $2b

Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors (Vasep) on December 14 said that shrimp exports this year would fetch over $2 billion. Last year’s figure was nearly $1.7 billion.

During the first 10 months this year, Vietnam exported over 195,000 tonnes of shrimp, earning $1.68 billion.

Vietnam’s three key markets including Japan, the US and European Union (EU) saw a strong increase in both quantity and value.

Also according to Vasep, from the beginning of the year so far, the country exported 70,000 tonnes of tuna, worth more than $250 million, up 50 percent in volume and about 65 percent in value year-on-year. – Phap luat
