Sharp increase in hotel room ratio
Do Thi Hong Xoan, head of hotel department, under Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, said that in the first four months of this year, the average ratio of hotel room rental in the hotels nationwide reached about 65 percent, compared to the annual growth rate of 50 percent and a year-on-year increase of 30 percent.
In many large, high-class hotels in tourism, coastal cities such as Nha Trang, Phan Thiet, the room usage capacity was reported to achieve over 90 percent.
The fact that the number of international tourists travelling to Vietnam recently increased by 35.7 percent against the same period of last year to about 1.8 arrivals. In addition, there was an upward trend in domestic investors thanks to the economic recovery.
Xoan added that tourism was a sensitive industry that easily got affected from economic issues, disease and other factors.
Therefore, the investors of hotel construction projects were cautious. Moreover, it usually takes up to few years to put the projects into operation because of long time for setting up projects and construction period. Therefore, Vietnam still has to face with the sharp increase in hotel rental prices, even room shortage in long holidays because of the rising travelling demands.
