Shares Slump On Dismal Trading
Shares tumbled again during this morning’s session, although the southern bourse’s benchmark VN-Index had earlier managed slight gains.
On the HCM Stock Exchange, the index dropped 0.11 per cent to 427.60 points, with 138 out of 288 codes losing ground.
Market value reached VND812.8 billion (US$39.3 million), a 35.5 per cent decrease against yesterday’s level. The volume of trade also plunged 55.9 per cent to just 34.4 million shares.
Of the 10 leading shares by capitalisation, PetroVietnam Finance (PVF) suffered the most, falling 2.2 per cent, but five of the others managed to gain from 0.3-0.9 per cent.
Becamex Infrastructure Development Co (IJC) was the mostly heavily traded stock with 2.1 million shares changing hands. It bottomed out to close at VND13,300 per share.
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index fell 1 per cent to finish at 71.34 points.
Trading value only reached 59 per cent of yesterday’s session, totalling VND349.2 billion ($16.87 million) on a modest volume of 32.5 million shares.
VNDirect Securities Co (VND) was the most active code nationwide with more than 2.8 million shares exchanged, although it ended down 2.5 per cent. “-Source:Vietbiz24.com”
