Shanghai Electric Group Invests US$2.1B in Power Projects in Vietnam so far

Shanghai Electric Group (SEG), one of the largest mechanical and electrical equipment manufacturers in China, has to date invested US$2.1 billion in coal-fired power projects in Vietnam.

The information was released during Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s fieldtrip to the group on May 1.

SEG has been provided engineering, procurement and construction services for the 1,244-MW Vinh Tan 2 plant in the central province of Binh Thuan, the 220-MW Son Dong plant in the northern province of Bac Giang, and the 600-MW Quang Ninh 1 and the 600-MW Quang Ninh 2 plants in the northern province of Quang Ninh.

By end-March this year, China had over 700 projects capitalized at US$3 billion in Vietnam.
