Sep 19: Vietnam stocks gain on late buying

Vietnamese stocks kicked off the new week in the green on late buying as investors took recent retreat as an opportunity to enter.

The benchmark VN Index added 4.57 points, or 1%, to end at 461.68. Volume fell 21% to 46.6 million shares worth VND1.37 trillion including 9.6 million shares worth VND806.68 billion changed hands in the put-through deals.

Arranged deals were active with very high turnover, including 4 million MSN shares and 1.3 million VPL shares changed hands.

VN Index opened in the red with nearly 6.4 million shares traded. The trading was good, and VN Index pared the early loss as it progressed. Late buying in the last 15 ATC minutes buoyed the benchmark and VN Index closed at the high of the day, in the green.

The market breath today was positive, among 301 shares listed firms on HOSE, gainers outweighed losers by 165-63 and 63 stocks unchanged. As many as 21 stocks fell to the floor while 36 issues hit the ceiling, 5% each side.

Among10 market caps, 8 gained and 1 unchanged and 1 lost.

Becamex Infrastructure Development JSC. (IJC) was the most active stock with 5.2 million shares traded, closing up 1.82% to VND11,200

Sacom Development and Investment Corporation (SAM) was in the second place with 1.5 million shares traded, closing up 1.4% to VND7,300.

Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI) ranked third with 1.4 million shares traded, down 1.5 % to VND20,500.

Hoang Quan Consulting – Trading – Service Real Estate Corporation (HQC) followed in the list with 1.2 million shares traded, closing up 4.3% to VND14,700.

Transport Engineering Construction and Business Investment JSC. 584 (NTB) was in the last in the top 5 active list with 1.2 million shares traded, closing flat at VND9,000.

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX closed up 1.13 points or 1.51% to close at 76.01. Trading volume fell 26.5% to 38 million shares traded for VND437.49 billion of which 2.4 million shares worth VND33.48 billion were changed hands in put-through deals.

Market breadth was still negative with 129 gainers, 138 losers and 54 flat issues and 70 untraded. Among top 10 market cap stocks 6 gained, 1 fell and 3 unchanged.

Kim Long Securities JSC (KLS) was the most active stock with 3.8 million shares traded, closing up 0.8% to VND12,500 on average.

VNDIRECT Securities Corporation (VND) was in the second place with 3.2 million shares traded, closing up 2.4% to VND12,600 on average.

PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVX) ranked third in the list with 2.1 million shares traded, closing up 0.8% to VND12,600 on average. – Stoxplus.com
