Seminar to promote Vietnam-France co-operation and investment

The France-Vietnam Friendship Association in co-ordination with the France-Vietnam Friendship Club will organise a seminar to boost the co-operation and business ties between Vietnam and France in the coming time.

The event will deal with the current and future role and position of Vietnam together with four round-table discussions concerning the issues of great concern among French businesses and people.

Hélène Luc, an honorary senate member and president of the Vietnam-France Friendship Association, said: “We plan to organise the seminar with the aim of the supporting the increase of the bilateral co-operation between France and Vietnam, thus bringing benefits to both countries.”

“Our event is a meaningful continuation of the visit by Prime Minister Francois Fillon to Vietnam last November. In addition, we hope that it will serve as one of the preparatory steps for a more important visit by President Nicolas Sarkozy to Vietnam in the coming time,” she added.

It is expected that the seminar will draw an active participation of French businesses together with local authorities, senior officials, organisations and researchers and those who wish to learn more about Vietnam.

In addition to famous scholars and economists with thorough knowledge about Vietnam, the event will witness the presence of several senior officials such as Paul Jean-Ortiz, director of Asia and Oceania from the French Foreign Ministry; Christian Poncelet and Michel Voisin, presidents of friendship associations at the French Senate and National Assembly respectively.

The participants will focus their discussions on the issues of great concerns such as economic development in Vietnam, a dynamic economy in the past year, the model of Vietnam’s economic development, its advantages of a stable political system, institutional reforms towards the simplification of procedures for foreign businesses, the fields of great development potential in the future as well as measures to enhance the diplomatic and political ties between France and Vietnam.

A number of bilateral co-operation agreements were signed during the visit to Vietnam by French Prime Minister Francois Fillo last November. Therefore, the forthcoming seminar is expected to provide sufficient information on businesses co-operation opportunities for French businesses, and at the same time make a contribution to rapidly implementing the recently signed agreements between the two countries.
