Seminar on the development of Vietnam’s electricity sector

Vietnam’s electricity sector aims to achieve 12 percent year-on-year growth in order to meet the demand for electricity as the country’s population is estimated to reach 100 million by 2020.

This was announced at a second international seminar on Vietnam’s electricity, which opened in Hanoi on June 22.

The two-day seminar, held by the World and Vietnam Report and the Euro Money magazine,  is focused on opportunities and challenges facing the electricity sector, as well as policies and regulations on foreign direct investment (FDI) in the sector.

According to latest statistics, Vietnam annually consumes approximately 21 million kwh of electricity and the amount keeps increasing by more than 14 percent year on year. – VOV
