Robusta coffee prices may extend gains from a one-week high during a lull in supplies before the next harvest in Vietnam, the largest grower of the beans.

Vietnam’s harvest usually starts in November and Indonesia’s crop was delayed because of rain, according to Andrea Thompson, an analyst at CoffeeNetwork in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Prices rose 2.4 % yesterday, the second consecutive gain.

“It made a very encouraging close yesterday,” Thompson said.

Robusta coffee for November delivery climbed $38 to $1,629 a metric ton on NYSE Liffe yesterday, the highest closing price since Sept. 3. Trading starts at 9 a.m. London time.- Bloomberg
