Rice exports set new record

Vietnam has exported 6.11 million tonnes of rice worth nearly $2.6 billion since early this year, the highest amount ever according to the Vietnam Food Association.

In 2009, six million tonnes of rice were exported for over $2.3 billion.

The price of unhusked rice is currently between VND5,850 and VND6,100 per kilogramme in the Mekong River Delta; 5 per cent broken rice is being sold at VND8,150 – 8,300 per kilogramme. – Nhandan
