Rice exports from Vietnam reach 5.32 million tons, group says

Vietnam, the world’s second-largest rice exporter, shipped 5.32 million metric tons from the start of the year to Aug. 31, the Vietnam Food Association said.

Shipments were 697,642 tons in August, the association said in a statement on its website Sept. 1.

Vietnam may ship 7.3 million metric tons of rice in 2011, Vietnam’s agricultural ministry said in a report on its website Aug. 31. The nation exported 6.75 million tons of rice last year, according to the association. – Bloomberg
