Rice export closer to $1b threshold

In the first week of May, enterprises exported 132,409 tonnes of rice for $59.1 million, bringing total figure till May 7 to more than 2.1 million tonnes earning $983 million, Vietnam Food Association reported.

Total rice export volume signed up to the end of April was four million tonnes, surging 13.7 percent year-on-year, Pham Van Bay, vice president of VFA said.
