Retail gas prices extend rising momentum

The retail prices of domestic gas has increased by between VND9,000-VND10,000 per 12 kilo cylinder to around VND329,000 per cylinder from 7.30 a.m today due to higher world prices , the local newspaper SGGP reported on late February 28, quoted Do Trung Thanh, deputy sales manager of Saigon Petrol Gas said.
The domestic retail gas prices are currently VND7,000-VND8,000 higher than the beginning of this year after local gas traders have raised gas prices three times by VND29,000 per 12 kilo cylinder and cut gas prices one time by VND22,000 per 12 kilo cylinder.
The world prices of gas increased at $840/ton in March, up $25/ton from February, raising the domestic wholesales gas price by VND750/kg, Thanh said.
The world prices of gas frequently drop in March, but, this year, there exists a shortage of gas supply on upraising in some African countries, Le Phuc Dai, General Director of Vinagas said.
The prices of essential fuel have continued rising recently, pressuring on the country’s efforts to tame inflation.
The retail prices of electricity begin to increase by 15.28% today. The retail prices of petrol also rose up to 17.68% earlier – Stoxplus.com
