Region’s largest float glass factory begins operation

A float glass factory, the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia officially came into operation in Chu Lai Open Economic Zone in the central province of Quang Nam on February 22.

The Chu Lai Float Glass Joint Stock Company’s factory has an investment capital of US$100 million. It uses 600 tonnes of sand per day to churn out 900 tonnes of glass (JSR 3020-1996). 30 percent of which will be exported.

The factory is expected to gross US$109.2 million.
