Railway freight surcharge increases to 15pct

In a bid to balance between revenue and expenditures, stabilise production and business, Railway Freight Transport Co has officially applied “fuel surcharge increase” for railway freight transport to 15 percent, Vietnam Railway Corp said.

This surcharge excludes value added tax (VAT) and will be selected on the shipping bill.

Previously, with the Ministry of Finance (MoF)’s decision of adjusting the diesel oil price from 14,750 dong per litre to 18,300 dong per litre from February 28, 2011, increasing 24 percent, causing an increase of 7 percent for railway transport costs.

In order to deal with this problem, along with saving measures of production costs, the corporation had to apply the fuel surcharge by 7 percent for freights since March 6, 2011. – Vietnamplus
