Queensland Gov’t getting foot in Vietnamese market
Australia’s Queensland State is going to open a trade office in Ho Chi Minh City to assist Queensland companies’ business in Vietnam, the Australian Consulate General announced August 18.
The announcement quoted Queensland Trade Minister Stephen Robertson as saying that Vietnam presented new opportunities for Queensland businesses looking to expand their base to Southeast Asia.
“The region is demonstrating that it is committed to continued market reform, making it an attractive prospect for foreign investment,†Mr. Robertson said.
“Vietnam is now considered a leading growth economy in the ASEAN region, with opportunities in a range of sectors including infrastructure development, both public and private.â€
Queensland’s new representative office will be based in the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) Office in Ho Chi Minh City, and will also work with Queensland’s education and training sector, assisting Queensland’s export performance in Vietnam, according to the Australian Consulate General.
Local trade representatives will assist Queensland companies with negotiating and developing strategies to address different cultures, languages, business practices and other issues, Mr. Robertson was quoted.
