Provina opens training centre at Saigon Hi-tech Park

The local firm Provina Technology Co Ltd late last week opened a training centre for IT and automation in Saigon Hi-tech Park (SHTP) in the city’s District 9.

The CiTARES centre covering about 3,200 square meters cost almost VND30 billion, said Pham Thanh Minh, deputy director of Provina.

“CiTARES will contribute to meet the demand for qualified human resources for industries and enterprises active in high tech sectors, by offering practical training methods, based on advanced equipment and software tools,” Minh said.

He noted the new centre would replace the training centre of the company at 148 bis Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street in the city’s District 1.

“We’ll bring here our advanced equipments, expertise, software and training methods to train engineers of factories and buildings as well as local students,” he added.

The first phase of Saigon Hi-tech Park, covering more than 300 hectares and 95 percent full, has attracted over $1.76 billion worth of registered capital from local and foreign investors since its opening over seven years ago, according to the park’s authority. Prominent investors include Intel, Japan’s Nidec, Denmark’s Sonion, Allied Technologies of Singapore, Jabil, Datalogic, FPT and EVN Tel.

There are 17 operational projects at the moment, employing over 10,000 workers and generating export revenue of $1.1 billion up to now.

SHTP expects foreign and domestic investment capital flow this year to hit some $150 million.

SHTP is focusing on attracting hi-tech projects in microelectronics, IT, telecommunications, R&D and the service sector. – Saigon Times
