Promoting exports to North America in 4th quarter

The American Market Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) will coordinate with Vietnam Trade Offices in Mexico and Canada to carry out programmes to promote exports to the North American market in the 4th quarter this year.

The programme follows MoIT Instruction 18/CT-BCT about deploying measures to push exports and widen markets.

Businesses taking part in the programme operate mainly in garments and textiles, footwear, seafood, wood products, arts and handicrafts and food processing.

Trade promotion activities will be held in Toronto, Canada and Mexico City, Mexico.

After the US, Canada and Mexico are two big markets with a total population of 520, that import Vietnamese goods in North America, especially vegetables and fruit.

In July 2010, the total turnover of vegetables and fruit exported to the region reached US$2.8 million, up 21.7 percent against the same period last year. – VOV
