Port city looks to float airport

An international airport for Haiphong has come a step closer.

The Ministry of Transport (MoT) recently asked the prime minister to approve a site to build Haiphong international airport to covers four Vinh Quang, Tien Hung, Dong Hung and Tay Hung communes in the city’s Tien Lang district.

The airport will cover around 4,000 hectares in total area and be 25 kilometres away from the city’s centre and 90km from Noi Bai international airport. It is next to the sea and positioned in areas free of residences as well as agricultural land.

Construction is due to take place during 2013-2025. – VIR
