PM Dung affirms better environment for US businesses

Vietnam will continue to improve administrative procedures and infrastructure to facilitate US companies’ long-term business in the country, says Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

He made the statement while receiving executives from the American Apparel Manufacturers Association (AAMA) and some major importers on the sidelines of the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington DC on April 12 (local time).

Vietnam US cooperation

PM Dung thanked the association for contributing to increases in Vietnam’s apparel export to the US as this industry has created many jobs for the poor. He expressed his hope that the association would back Vietnam in fighting against trade barriers and by providing “early warnings” about these threats.

Representatives of the US apparel producers and importers affirmed that their groups are eager for long-term investment in Vietnam and want the Government to provide favourable conditions for their imports and exports.

The same day, PM Dung witnessed the signing of a loan deal between the Vietnam Coal and Minerals Industry Group and CitiBank for the bauxite project in the Central Highland province of Lam Dong, and the minutes on long-term cooperation between the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group with GE Oil and Gas.

He also received leaders of the GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy Group and the Bechtel Carl Rau Infrastructure Group.

On March 13, PM Dung held several bilateral meetings with State leaders who attend the Nuclear Security Summit.
