PM adopts rural infrastructure development project

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a project to develop the rural infrastructure in northern mountainous provinces at a total cost of US$138 million.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) will be responsible for building and monitoring the project and will work with different localities to carry out the project on schedule and to ensure it is efficient.

Earlier, the Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), Nguyen Van Binh and the Resident Director and Chief Representative of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Vietnam, Ayumi Konishi signed a deal on non-refundable aid worth US$1.2 million to support the project.

Under the agreement, the ADB will help the Vietnamese Government to improve the rural infrastructure in 15 northern mountainous provinces and report on the project.
