The People’s Committees of Khanh Hoa and Kien Giang provinces have approved a pilot project to harvest, process and export globefish to foreign markets in the 2010-2011 period.

Under the project, the Mai Sao and Huy Nam Seafood Companies will process and export globefish to the Republic of Korea.

The Poseidon Company, the exclusive importer of Vietnamese globefish will be responsible for providing training courses to help fishermen and processors learn proper techniques for exporting to foreign markets.

To catch, purchase, process and export globefish, fishing vessels and businesses must register to participate in the pilot project and obtain permits from relevant authorities.

Dao Cong Thien, director of the Khanh Hoa provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said globefish project has been completed and submitted to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Vietnam Fisheries Association for further consideration.

The provincial People’s Committees are also finalizing procedures to help relevant agencies implement the project in a reasonable manner. – VOV
