Phu Quoc Airport to become operational in October 2011

Hoang Trung Hai, deputy prime minister has assigned Southern Region Aviation Corp to work with Kien Giang province people’s committee for speeding up the implementation process of construction project of Phu Quoc Airport, so as to ensure the airport becomes operational by October 2011.

This is the first airport to be built with international standards that has been constructed under the method of 100 percent foreign investment capital. The new airport will have total area of over 900 hectares with investment capital of 16.2 trillion dong.

It was expected that up to 2020, with additional investment capital of over 8 trillion dong, the airport may receive up to 7 million passengers and 27,600 tonnes of goods per year. – TBKTVN
