Pepper price hits record high

The export price of pepper hit a record high of VND140,000 per kilo, up VND40,000 per kilo compared to the previous month, according to the Vietnam Pepper Association (VPA).

Businesses said that the price of pepper will continue to rise from now to the end of this year.

The VPA forecast that the world’s pepper consumption will increase this year by 5 percent over last year’s figure of 320, 000 tonnes but the global output will only be around 257,000 tonnes.

Vietnam will maintain or increase its pepper output and so the world will look towards Vietnam to meet the increased demand. – VOV
