Parts shortages forces Toyota to cut production

Due to a shortage of parts and supplies caused by the Japanese earthquake and tsunami, Toyota Motor Viet Nam will cut production to about 30 per cent of normal capacity between April 25 and June 3, the company announced.

Vehicle supply to dealers would be reduced accordingly, leading to delivery delays, Toyota said. Employees would continue normal work hours and would be transferred to plant improvement efforts or training.

“We will continue to evaluate the parts supply and make appropriate plans to resume normal vehicle production as quickly as possible” said Toyota Viet Nam president Akito Tachibana. “We will endeavor to ensure the optimum stock management to reduce the impact on our customers and delivery delays.”
