Over 2.2tr dong to upgrade Pleiku airport

The Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV) has recently announced the scheme to upgrade the Pleiku airport in the central highland province of Gia Lai during 2020 period including the orientation till 2030 with an estimated investment of over 2.2 trillion dong.

In details, the Pleiku Airport will be upgraded into two phases to meet the receiving for Airbus A321 aircraft and equivalents. According to the new scheme, over 745 billion dong will be invested during the period till 2020 and the remaining is for the period till 2030.

The capital source of over 2.2 trillion dong will be raised from different channels including capital from the state budget, capital from enterprises and investors.

Pleiku Airport is located about 5 kilometres from Pleiku city and has a 1,830 metre long runway. According to the new scheme, this runway will be extended to 3,000 metres and 45 metres of width by 2020.

Once finished, this airport is expected to receive over 330,000 passengers by 2020 and it would be 500,000 people by 2030.
