Over 1,000 firms are qualified for being public companies: SCC

The State Securities Commission of Vietnam (SSC) has recently released the list of unlisted public companies as of September 23, 2011 with a total of 1,001 firms that meet enough conditions.
These firms have total chartered capital of up to over 177 trillion dong.

Of which, PetroVietnam Gas Corp (PV Gas) with the biggest chartered capital of 18.95 trillion dong, accounting for 10% of the total chartered capital of these public companies. The company has registered to be public company since August.

Following PV Gas is Saigon Beer-Alcohol-Beverage Corp (Sabeco) with a chartered capital of 6.412 trillion dong and five commercial joint stock banks namely Vietnam Technological Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Techcombank) with 4.337 trillion dong, Southeast Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SeABank) with 4.068 trillion dong, Saigon Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SCB) 3.635 trillion dong, Lien Viet Commercial Joint Stock Bank (LienVietBank) 3.3 trillion dong and Eastern Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (EAB) with 2.88 trillion dong.

The number of companies with chartered capital of 10-50 billion dong accounted for the majority percentage with nearly 600 firms, or 60% of the total registered public companies. However, their total chartered capital accounted for only 8% or 15.2 trillion dong.

Meanwhile, 22 other companies have chartered capital of 1-3 trillion dong each. Their total chartered capital is up to 42.48 trillion dong, accounting for 24% of the total chartered capital of over 1,000 public companies. – Source: Vietbiz24
