One-month interbank interest rate surges 1.16pct

The interbank average interest rate for 1-month term on August 19 surged 1.16% from August 17 to 14.41% per annum (p.a.), marking the highest level in recent three months, the online newswire Gafin quoted.
The interest rate for overnight and 3-month terms also soared 0.3% and 0.15% from August 17 respectively to 10.93% p.a. and 14.83% p.a.

Meanwhile, the interest rate for 1- and 2-week terms saw a fall of 0.82% and 0.06% to 11.64% p.a. and 13.21% p.a. respectively.

Notably, the interest rate for 6-and 12-month terms remained unchanged.

According to Reuters and the online newswire NDHMoney, in the week between August 15 and 19, the central bank injected five trillion dong and withdrew the same volume of five trillion dong, marking the trading balance on open market operations (OMO) for the fourth consecutive week. – Vietbiz24
