Number of mobile subscriber far exceeds fixed-line subscribers

The total number of new telephone subscribers from early 2010 to late November 2010, according to General Statistical Office, is estimated at 38.1 million, up by 6.1 percent over the same period of 2009. Of which, 37.3 million are mobile subscribers, accounting for 97.9 percent of the total, 786,500 are fixed-line subscribers.

The number of subscribers nationwide to the end of November is estimated at 163.7 million, up by 39.7 percent against the same period of last year. Of that, 16.4 million are fixed-line subscribers, up by six percent, and 147.3 million mobile subscribers, up by 44.8 percent. Particularly, the number of subscribers of Vietnam’s Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) in late November is estimated at 86.6 million, up by 35.8 percent over the same period of 2009, including 11.7 million fixed-line subscribers, up by 2.4 percent and 74.9 million mobile subscribers, up by 43.1 percent.

According to estimates of the General Statistical Office, to the end of November, the number of broadband internet subscribers over the country is 3.7 million, up by 29.1 percent over the same period of 2009. The number of internet users is estimated at 27.3 million, up by 21.3 percent.

Total net revenue from postal and telecommunications services from the beginning of the year to date is estimated to reach 119.7 trillion dong, up by 26.8 percent over the same period of last year. – Vneconomy
