Nha Trang Seafoods not dumping tra fish on US market

The US Department of Commerce (DOC) said in late January that Nha Trang Seafoods Joint Stock Company (Nha Trang Seafoods) did not dump tra fish on the US market between August 1, 2008 and July 31, 2009.

DOC’s conclusion, which is known to be announced within 90 days, means that the Vietnamese business will not be subject to anti-dumping taxes.

Vietnam’s tra fish is exported to 130 countries and territories in the world, and brought in US$1.34 billion in 2009.

After a difficult year due to price declines, tra and basa breeders in the Mekong Delta region are full of hope for a smooth business year as the wholesale prices for the fish have picked up.

At present, the price stands at VND15,800 per kg, which is expected to bring a profit of VND500-800 per kg.
