New record for domestic gold prices – Feb 19

Domestic gold prices have continued their upward trend every day to reach a record high over VND38 million per tael.

At 9.30am on February gold prices in Hanoi reached VND38.20-38.40 million per tael. SJC gold was listed at VND38.10-38.25 million per tael while SBJ gold was transacted at VND38.05-38.20 million/tael.

In Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Nha Trang, and Can Tho, gold prices hovered around VND38.10-38.20 million per tael, up by VND800,000 against the previous day.

The domestic price of gold is estimated to be VND1 million per tael higher than the world price.

The recent spikes in the price of gold are attributed to the State Bank of Vietnam’s decision to increase the VND/US$ exchange rate and the rising prices in the world market. – VOV
