New opportunity for Vietnam’s seafood exports to US

Vietnam’s seafood exports to the US market are expected to make a breakthrough as the US Department of Commerce has announced the results of its administrative review of Vietnam’s shrimp and tra fish.

Accordingly, the anti-dumping taxes imposed on Vietnamese shrimp shipped to the US in the fifth review are much lower than in the forth review.

Vietnam’s Minh Phu, Nha Trang Seafood, and Camimex businesses see the taxes on their products reduced from 2.95 percent, 4.89 percent, and 3.92 percent to 1.15 percent, 0 percent, and 0.83 percent, respectively.

The remaining 28 Vietnamese companies enjoy a fall from 3.92 percent to 1.04 percent.

Higher selling prices are regarded as one of the causes leading to such declines in anti-dumping taxes.

The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers has asked the relevant state agencies to file an additional lawsuit against the US in this connection.  -VOV
