Nearly 60tr dong set for developing leather shoes industry

Ministry of Industry and Trade has approved the overall plan for developing Vietnam’s leather shoes till 2020 and vision to 2025, the state-run Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper reported on Wednesday.

Under it, total investment capital estimated for the period from 2011 to 2020 is 59.570 trillion dong, of which 43 percent will be raised domestically and remainder from international sources.

The new point of the plan is to improve the capacity of designing product models and developing human resources in the leather shoes and fashion industries.

Also, it aims to raise the domestication ratio in leather shoes products to 60-65 percent by 2025, 75-80 percent by 2020 and 80-85 percent by 2025.

The industry targets to reach export turnover of $9 billion in 2015, $14.5 billion in 2020 and $21 billion in 2025.
