Most Vietnam firms consider inflation for salary increases

Many firms took inflation into consideration when considering salary increases this year.

Up to 81 percent of firms took inflation into consideration when considering salary increases for their employees, according to a recent survey by Navigos Search, one of the leading recruitment firms in Vietnam.

The survey was conducted among 116 companies operating in Vietnam from March 16 to April 15 and the results were released Monday.

Of the four fundamental factors that a company considers while holding a salary review, individual performance ranked first; inflation ranked second, followed by company performance and external and internal competitiveness.

According to the survey, companies made considerable salary adjustments in 2011, compared with 2010. Approximately 54 percent of surveyed companies increased staff salaries by 11-15 percent in 2011, while 62 percent of the respondents increased the salaries of their professional employees by 11-15 percent. – Thanhnien
