More Japanese companies attracted to Vietnam

Over 500 Japanese companies sought information about investment in Vietnam, particularly in support industries, from April 2010 to March 2011, said an official of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).

Hirokazu Yamaoka, Chief of JETRO Vietnam, said that Vietnam is an attractive place for manufacturers compared with other regional countries because it boasts low-cost labour and skilled human resources. Many Japanese firms want to buy Japanese products made in Vietnam.

JETRO and the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency are joining hands to put on the fourth Vietnam-Japan Exhibition for Support Industries from September 15-17 in Hanoi.

There will also be programmes to assist interested Japanese companies in working directly with leaders of 100 major, prestigious Vietnamese companies in fields such as automobile parts, motorcycles, electric appliances, electronics, and packaging production.

Yamaoka added that Japanese businesses pay special attention to product quality so the Vietnamese government should provide more assistance for improving infrastructure, the business climate, and the power supply.
