Mobile transceiver stations to be probed

Testing and certification of Base Transceiver Stations, BTSs, will be examined nationwide, according to the Ministry of Information and Communications.

The ministry has asked all provincial information and communications departments to examine the BTSs of telecom companies from July 1 to September 30.

Inspectors will measure whether companies are complying with regulations concerning the safety of electromagnetic radiation.

The goal of the examination is to prevent illegal actions and to fine enterprises, organisations and individuals for breaking regulations. Test policies will also be amended.

The departments are asked to report test results to the ministry before October 15 so that the ministry can outline new solutions to better manage station quality.

Since the beginning of the year, the ministry has tested and certified 6,000 BTS, bringing the total to 32,000. — VNS
