Mobile phone service providers offer widespread tariff reductions
S-Fone and Vietnamobile reduced their service fees for mobile phone subscribers yesterday.
The two telecom firms’ decision to reduce rates were unveiled after similar initiatives were passed by Viettel, VinaPhone and MobiFone last month.
The fees were cut by an average of 15 per cent for subscribers using Standard, Economy, 4M, Daily and Smile, reported S-Fone.
Ho Hong Son, S-Fone Executive Manager, said the price reduction was not a competition-based initiative.
Vietnamobile also announced that it would reduce its rates by 10 per cent on average for all service packages.
This rate reduction allows VNOne and VMax customers to enjoy a lower price of VND1,380 per minute for all on net and off net calls, said Elizabete Fong, Vietnamobile’s CEO.
Telecom firms Beeline and EVN Telecom have yet to announce a change in their rates.
Last month, the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications approved Viettel, VinaPhone and MobiFone plans to reduce their rates by 10-15 per cent.
Ministry regulations state that mobile phone service providers can only discount prices by a maximum of 15 per cent. — VNS
