Ministry Seeking Vietnam Govt Approval to Build US$843.4M Expressway

The Vietnamese Ministry of Transport is seeking the government approval to build an expressway at a cost of VND16.033 trillion (US$843.4 billion) to connect Dong Nai and Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinces in the southern region.

The 77.56-kilometer Bien Hoa-Vung Tau expressway is expected to have six lanes and allow vehicles to travel at a maximum speed of between 100 km and 120 km per hour.

Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway Corporation (BVEC), the project’s investor, plans to start the project in August, 2012.

Vietnam disbursed VND9.28 trillion for transport projects in the first three months of this year. It targets to disburse VND37 trillion into transport projects this year, said the ministry.
