Ministry gives go-ahead to $10 billion airport

The Southern Airports Corporation has submitted a plan to Dong Nai Province People’s Committee to build Long Thanh International Airport.

The US$10-billion airport will occupy an area of 5,000ha. It will have offices, a car park, warehouses, hotels, entertainment areas, duty-free shops and a golf course.

Australia’s Hansen Partnership is acting as the design consultant for the project.

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has asked the Transport Ministry to make a feasibility study and submit it to the Prime Minister by October.
