Millennium to lift hotel stays
Hanoi hotels will enjoy their highest occupancy levels during the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.
Do Thu Hang, head of Savills Vietnam Hanoi research, said: “The average occupancy for the whole market ranged from 57-60% in the first 9 months of this year.
However, with the huge number of domestic and international people rushing to Hanoi during the festival, the rate can reach to the highest occupancy rate of Hanoi hotel market this year.â€
It will be tough to find a bed during the capital’s celebrations
“The anniversary is brightening Hanoi’s hotel market and helping raise hotels’ average occupancy rates and revenue per available rooms in the third quarter,†said Hang.
According to Savills Vietnam’s second quarter report, Hanoi can provide about 5,850 rooms of three- to five-star standards.
If accounting total rooms in hotels and guesthouses in Hanoi, according to the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the city can provide about 17,000 rooms.
The figure will not meet the demand of the 700,000-800,000 domestic and foreign tourists expected to visit the city during the celebration.
Le Tan Tri, director of Lac Viet Travel Company, said: “Most of the hotels in the inner city have been fully booked for the days during the festival.â€
However, some three-star hotels and guesthouses located at the non-central business districts in Hanoi still have several empty rooms.
Nguyen Manh Khuong, deputy director of Lotussia Travel Company, said representatives from domestic and foreign delegations were rushing to the city as were Chinese travelers who would have a holiday on the occasion of the country’s National Day in early October.
The huge number of the boarders pushed the room rates of three-star hotels raising up to more than 10-15% over ordinary days as recognitions of travel companies running in Hanoi. – VIR
