Mekong River Delta welcomes 10 million visitors since January

The Mekong River Delta welcomed nearly 10 million tourists including 730,000 foreigners in the first half of the year, 19 percent more than in the same period last year, said the Mekong Delta Tourism Association.

It is estimated that the region has earned a total revenue of more than VND1.52 trillion, up nearly 28 percent over last year’s figure.

The association announced plans to strengthen tourism in the region by raising promotion and internet business over the rest of the year.

Also, the association will implement the tourism stimulus programme 2010 under the theme “Vietnam- your destination”, and strengthen training courses for human resources in the tourism sector.
