Mai Linh makes taxi fare payment via SMS available

Mai Linh Group on Monday officially launched three solutions for passengers to pay taxi fares via SMS for passengers using the company’s cabs in the city, after six months of trial application.

The common principle of the three solutions allows passengers to send one SMS with a simple syntax to MobiVi’s SMS gateway to make a payment.

For the first solution, passengers can make payment by using pre-paid cards jointly issued by Mai Linh and MobiVi, and follow the transactional instructions on the card.

The second solution allows customers to make SMS payment by using MobiVi e-wallet. They can use similar SMS message to pay Mai Linh taxi fares.

Customers can also opt for the SMS post-paid services as the last solution, which targets corporate clients of the taxi operator. Corporate clients who have signed post-paid agreements with Mai Linh and have been given a post-paid account by Mai Linh are eligible to register for this solution.

Truong Quang Man, vice chair of Mai Linh Group, said that the solutions were in line with the government’s policy to encourage non-cash payment as they are the safest solutions.

Nguyen Anh Tuan, deputy general director of Viet Phu Payment Corporation, who owns MobiVi, said his company had invested some $150,000 to develop the solutions.
